Tragedy In The NFL

It is unfortunate, to say the least, that a young woman lost her life and a child has lost both her mother and father in such a senseless display of carelessness and disrespect.

Do I mourn the loss of Jovan Belcher?  Should anyone?  I guess his family does and should.  However, this is a murderer.  He took the life of a defenseless woman.  Reports indicate that he proclaimed, “You can’t talk to me like that!”  Then, gunfire.

Some say the fact that Belcher was allowed to have a gun is the reason that the murder took place.  The fact of the matter is, he could have killed her in many other ways

What killed Kasandra Perkins is the same thing that kills kids from practically every neighborhood in the country.  It is the same thing that kills men and women every week in some town, city, or state in the country.

Disrespect for human life.

While atheist file lawsuit after lawsuit against the state for displaying religious items on or around federal property, people have seemed to have lost their way.  They have lost their belief in God.  They have lost their respect for the human spirit.

There is no respect for authority or one another, today.  Children talk to their parents with disrespect and treat them like dirt.  A thug mentality has gripped the nation, where it is no longer about what I can do for you, but what are you going to do for me.  People seem to demand respect when they have not done anything to earn it.

No one really knows what went on in that house before Kasandra Perkins was so brutally murdered, but it is clear that there was a sense that Belcher believed that he was better than Perkins.

The fact of the matter is, Jovan Belcher was less than a man.  He was less than a human.  Any person that can pull a weapon out to even threaten someone else, let alone, someone that they supposedly love, is at best an animal.  That person has lost any human qualities the moment the weapon has become an issue.

Not only did Belcher take the life of Perkins, but he essentially changed the way that three men will go through the rest of their lives, as they will always second guess what they could have done all because of his selfishness.  Scott Pioli, Romeo Crennel, and Gary Gibbs will never live their lives the same.

Mourn, if you will, not for the murderer, but for the murdered.  Mourn for the 3 month-old child that is now parentless.  Mourn for the family.  But do not mourn for Jovan Belcher.  He has not earned that respect.
